Polarized Light

 Polarization is light which vibrates only in the direction which an electric field and a magnetic field are regular. The case of being irregular is called un-polarizing or available light. The case of normal light vibrating in all directions, and it is between the natural light and polarized.
 Polarization has several kinds and two of them are introduced in this page.
"Linear polarization"
This polarization is that direction of vibration is constant.
"Circularly-polarized light"
Polarization of the orbit of the circle when the vibration is transmitted.

There is Polarizing plate about it. Only the light which polarized in the specific direction can pass through it. The concrete usage is an angler's glasses. You can see that underwater because the glasses eliminate the light which reflected from the surface. Other uses is the Camera lens filters. Other, it is used in liquid crystal displays and microscopes and skiing and TV.

Optical Rotation

 Optical Rotation is a phenomenon of rotating when a linear polarization passes through the material. In other case it happens in solution which contain the molecules cannot be overlapped mirror image. It occurs in solutions of chiral molecules such as sugar.

※2 Magnetic field・・・The place of the surrounding power of a magnet or electric current.
