カエル
・トノサマガエル
国内では、本州、四国、九州で、国外では中国、朝鮮、ロシアなどに分布しています。
体長は、オスが３８〜８０ｍｍで、メスが６３〜９４ｍｍほどで、メスのほうがオスより大きいです。後ろ脚が長く、跳躍力が強いです。背面の皮膚は比較的なめらかです。
体色はオスの背面は茶褐色から緑色で、メスは灰白色です。背中に明瞭な白または黄色の線があります。背面に黒い斑紋があり、斑紋同士がつながっていることが多いです。
肉食性で、主に生きている昆虫類やクモなどを食べますが、貪欲で、口に入る大きさであれば、小型のカエル、ヘビなども捕食します。また縄張り意識が強く、同じ容器で飼っている場合だとしばしば共食いすることがあります。野外での寿命は３〜４年です。
