Skin symptoms

Main symptoms

In skin symptoms, the following symptoms are mainly cause.

Urticaria, redness, itching, swelling, rash, eczema, swelling around the mouth, swelling of the face, itching around the mouth

◎Explanation of symptoms
Symptom Description
Urticaria A red bulge like mosquito bites. Itchy with it. Antihistamine is effective.
Redness Congestion of part of skin and mucosa.
Rash A generic term indicating some kind of change seen in the skin.
Eczema A red bulge. Over time it becomes watery and itchy. Steroid medicines are effective.

Also, representative allergic diseases including these symptoms is atopic dermatitis.

About atopic dermatitis

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic eczema and inflammation on the skin. It has features that it gets better and worse. This disease is classified into type I and type IV.

The cause is mainly two things,"constitutional factors" and "environmental factors".

Constitutional factors

Many people with atopic dermatitis have "atopic predisposition". In other words, it is ”atopic constitution" this is genetic. Such people are more sensitive than usual, and many IgE antibody immunoglobulins are produced. IgE antibodies are also excessively secreted by environmental factors such as stress and environmental pollution. This also makes it easy to develop allergies.

Environmental factors

It is caused by invasion of allergen substances into weak skin by some influence. "Weak skin" is specifically "dry skin". Skin tissue has a stratum corneum to keep moisture, a tissue composed of keratinocytes and intercellular lipids here confines moisture. But when it is destroyed, atopy is more likely to develop.
We introduced "some influence" earlier, and those are the following substances.

  • "Synthetic surfactant" included in shampoo and the like
⇒This is made from the substance naphtha which can be made in the refining process of petroleum, but this has properties that are easy to associate with oil. Therefore, when used it melts the skin membrane and further damages the stratum corneum below it.
  • Active oxygen and chlorine
⇒Chlorine destroys keratinocytes and expels intercellular lipids. Active oxygen destroys the corneocyte membrane by chemically reacting with intercellular lipids. These substances will affect our body by ultraviolet light, chemical substances, stress etc.

When allergens are added to the skin which became irritated by these two causes, IgE reacts and atopy develops. Allergens vary from person to person, but mainly carcasses such as ticks and feces, house dust, pollen and the like are raised.

Symptom

Depending on the degree of severity, it is divided into the following four stages.

Stage Symptom content
Minor It is rough enough to dry skin.
Mild In addition to rustling, it is also possible to get red mash and itchy. It looks as if the skin is somewhat cramped and blowing white powder.
Moderate The symptoms such as mild symptoms worsen further. In addition, the red swollen portion becomes swollen and becomes hard, and scratch marks will be left.
Severe The skin swells and turns red and rises, it looks like powder bleeding, and the skin peels off severely. Also it will be hit by a terrible itch that scratches unconsciously.

Preventive measures

The most important thing is not to lose skin care. As we said earlier, the possibility of becoming atopic dermatitis increases when the skin weakens. By properly adequate skin care , you can prevent deterioration of the barrier function of the skin.
Also, you should improve the environment where there are many allergens. Let's frequently wash futon, carpet, air conditioner etc, and let's firmly ventilate.
