According to this graph,we can say that the percentage of food self-sufficiency in Japan is lower than other developed countries. It means that Japan depend on import from other countries.So,it means that Japan shouold have responsibilities more than other countries in the world.
There are about 13 billion in a year in Jaopan. It is about one third of the amount of food that is produced in a year. Suprisingly, Japanese produce food loss about 64.6 million in a year. It means that they wast a cup of rice per person every day. There are about 35.7 million ton from companies and about 28.9 million ton from homes in a year. There are 76 foodbanks in Japan.However, they are almost inTokyo,so food cannot give people who really need food. Incidentally,there are 200 foodbanks in America and deal with food products by 130 million ton.Moreover Europe has 240 foodbanks. From these differences,we realized that Japan is behind measure for foodloss.
We have a goal!! One of the goals for food loss are 2020 Tokyo olympics and paralympics and 2030 SDGs. We can make some steps for the issue even it is small by understanding current status of foodloss in Japan.
