Radioactive waste

Problems

The nuclear power generation station must produce radioactive waste.
It affects human body very much. Even if the waste is put in a special container,
people near the waste are not able to survive, more than a dozen seconds.
Now the wastes are kept temporally in a facility in Rokkasho village, Aomori prefecture.
But the capacity is not enough.
How should the radioactive waste be discarded?
In the foreign countries, the waste is localized less than 300m below ground layer.
Japan has a similar plan,but no facility exists at the moment.
Also the more waste,the less storage.
The pros are that nuclear power generation is clear
because it does not produce carbon dioxide.The share is 30% of the total power generation.
what should we do in order to use electricity in a stable manner?

Our opinions

The cons are that the accident gives a harmful damage on human body.
I think the alternative way such as solar power
could supply enough electricity power in Japan.　(NOZAKI)

I am afraid nuclear waste is dangerous because it contains a lot of radioactivity.
In case the nuclear power station does not prepare enough earthquake-resistant facilities,
meltdown may happen and the radioactivity appears. At Chernobyl nobody is still able to enter the plant.
In Japan we may face a quite serious situation at the accident. (SHIRASE)

The nuclear power generation is attractive because less material bears more power.
We must pay attention to achieve the electricity, for instance,
to generate in a safety manner and to dispose waste materials in a safety manner.
It is a bad thought to let the waste lie under the ground firstly and to consider what and how to do.
Why don’ you start to use nuclear power generation after everything is okay.
Especially nuclear power generation is the most dangerous among the systems
and it is too late once we have faced the accident.
I hope safety power generation would be available through the risk adjustment as many as possible. (ASANO)

In the chemistry class I learned atomic fission. The atomic fission can creates a lot of energy.
I was intrigued it. However, the nuclear waste still obtains a lot of energy and it is difficult to disposal.
I think we should stop using this power generation. But we cannot.
Japan is called a world-leading technology state.
I hope the technology would reduce the energy contained in the nuclear waste as much as possible. (MIO)
