Surume and pickled carrot
People dine together pleasantly by offering Surume (a dried cuttlefish) and a pickled carrot at a Buddhist event to commemorate Kabo Daishi.
Surume and carrots are rich in nutrients, and this is good dish to inherit ancient wisdom.
■Ingredients
Dried cuttlefish     5g
Carrot     20g
Soy sauce     4g
Sweet cooking rice wine     1g


Matsurizushi
A long time ago, a lord whose name was Mitsumasa Ikeda issued a bam which prohibited luxurious life styles to his servant and people in the country.
In the ban, he ordered that people should only eat a bowl of soup and one kind of vegetable, and allowed them to eat sushi and fish sausage only on festival days.
