Set forth policies like “Larger commerce with China,” but resigned in 65 days because of Ishibashi coming down with pneumonia.
Nobusuke Kishi (1st: Feb 25, 1957-Jun 12, 1958 2nd: Jun 12, 1958-Jul 19, 1960, 769 days, Liberal Democratic Party)
Became a substitute prime minister for Ishibashi, and officially became a prime minister after his resignation. His cabinet tried to amend the Constitution and reinforce the SDF to have an equal position with America. The revised the US-Japan Security Treaty was opposed by many people and SDPJ. Kishi resigned on June 19, the day the treaty was approved automatically.
Hayato Ikeda (1st: Jul 19, 1960-Dec 8, 1960 2nd: Dec 8, 1960-Dec 9, 1963 3rd: Dec 9, 1963-Nov 19, 1964, 1575 days Liberal Democratic Party)

Set forth “income-doubling plan,” and became popular with a catch phrase “Ikeda does not lie.” This plan’s goal was to raise a growth rate 9% within 3 years and GNP twice as much. It caused a major capital investment, inflation, and a deficit in trade. Resigned on November 19, diagnosed as cancer in pharynx (throat).
Eisaku Sato (1st: Nov 19, 1964-Feb 17, 1967 2nd: Feb 17, 1967-Jan 14, 1970 3rd: Jan 14, 1970-Jul 7, 1972, 2798 days, Liberal Democratic Party)

The longest person to serve as prime minister after WWII. The cabinet issued national bond (debt with interest that a nation borrows from citizens and corporations) to overcome the recession to bring a “Izanagi Prosperity.” The second cabinet’s goal was to restore Ogasawara and Okinawa. As a result of discussion with President Richard Nixon over several years, Japan successfully restored Ogasawara in 1968 and Okinawa in May 1972 from the control of US.
He received a Novel Peace Award with the policy of three nonnuclear principles (Japan shall neither possess nor manufacture nuclear weapons, nor shall it permit their introduction into Japanese territory.)
Kakuei Tanaka (1st: Jul 7, 1972-Dec 22, 1972 2nd: Dec 22, 1972-Dec 9, 1974, 886 days, Liberal Democratic Party)

During his term, the representation of “China” was transferred to People’s Republic of China from Republic of China (Taiwan). Japan considered Republic of China that represents “China,” so Tanaka needed to negotiate with PRC to restore a diplomatic relationship to successfully announce “Joint Communiqué of the Government of Japan and the Government of the People's Republic of China.”
The cabinet set forth “Japanese Archipelago Remodeling Plan” to
1. Build highways and bullet trains to establish better transportation network
2. Remove the factories to rural areas
3. Improve the environment in rural areas.
This plan brought inflation in land value and prices. Oil Shock caused by the Fourth Arab-Israeli War spurred this on.
Tanaka was arrested for receiving bribe during the Lockheed Scandal (A worldwide bribery scandal schemed by Lockheed, the aircraft-major. Many politicians and corporation executives were arrested.), but ruled the politics to be known as “Yami-Shogun.”
