Mino is a city of the Gifu Mino district mostly located in the center. There measures area 117.05 square kilometers and there is a population of about 22,400. The city area known as "rows of houses which a short pillar set on a beam to support a ridgepole goes up" was selected as an important building group preservation area of a country on May 13, 1999. It becomes a tourist draw leading within the prefecture in recent years, and is established as a town which many tourists visit. Mino at the foot of the mountain following the Hida high ground is blessed with a good material for making Japanese paper, and the clean water and water transport which Nagara-gawa brings about. The "Mino Washi" is known as Japanese paper represented Japan's still now. Moreover, the heart of the "reception" is carefully saved as a liquor maker, a scientific library, and a cafe. |
