We have introduced how to draw cartoon step by step.
Now it is time to draw a comic!

What you have to do first is to make a plot of your comic.

1.First, think about your original plot of comic and spread it more and more in your head.
Then write down it on a paper or PC.

2.Then, frame your story by frame and make a dialogue, called ‘name’, and draw rough with a pencil.

3.Then, trace rough with a pen and stick Screen Tone.
This is your chance to show your skill.

When you think of a story, the most important part is how to make up introduction, development, turn and conclusion.
Especially the conclusion part is a climax.
When you draw a climax, if you use a whole page or two-page spread, it must be so effective.
Please see a picture in your head of your favorite comic. It is one way to imitate it to be better.

Frame work and dialogues in comic.

Basically when you make frames of comic, it should be from right to left, from top to bottom.
But as we introduced above, you can use a whole page or two-page spread sometimes.
We also introduce special words for framing.
When you spread your cartoon to the edge of page, we call it “Tachikiri”.
When you use row of several vertical frames at once, we call it “Buchinuki”.
When you use two-page spread, we call it “Mihiraki”.
Look at the cartoon above as a reference.
You can find “Tachikiri” in lower right.
You can also stick Screen Tone in frame.

There are many designs of balloon, called “Fukidashi”.

Choose the design to show what you want to express.

More information.

There are various weight of manuscript paper.
If your writing pressure is strong, use light paper.
Because if you use heavy paper, when you draw rough, your pencil grinds down the paper and rough doesn’t come off with an eraser.
If your writing pressure is weak and cutting pressure is strong, use heavy paper.
