Ulexite is otherwised known as the “TV rock” or hydrated sodium calcium borate hydroxide .
This name originates from the fact that the natural fibers of ulexite conduct light along their long axes by internal reflection, making the other side of the mineral look like an old tv screen.
Currently this mineral is sold in many museums and souvenier shops. This mineral has the same kind of characterisitcs as the optical fiber we use in modern day technology.
