The Shoin Style
The residential style called the shoin style,centred around buildings known as the dominant style of military family homes in the Late Middle Ages. Shoin-style residences usualy had a main gate opening onto a major road, an entrance hall opposite the gate. Around the genkan were the family entrance and covered benches for guards. The master of the house and his visitors used the main gate and entrance. It seems to define the construction of arcitecture. |
