Urban Concept

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Singapore announced the Smart City Initiative "Smart Nation Singapore" ("Smart Nation") in August 2014. This project incorporates IoT and AI to cover all services related to citizens' lives, from transportation to living environments, healthcare services, smart houses, energy, environmental conservation, and public services. In April 2015, a government organization called the "Smart Nation Program Office" was formed, and the entire government and the entire nation have been promoting the Smart City concept.

History

The program was launched in November 2014, with a 2.82 billion S budget in 2016 for technology and a 19 billion S budget for the Ministry of Trade and Industry's "Research Innovation Entrepreneurship Program 2020" from 2015 to 2020.



Relations with Japanese Companies

Singapore is Asia's largest investor in Japan in terms of stable political and social conditions. We attract direct investment mainly in finance, distribution and manufacturing (especially computer and optical equipment). Japanese companies are expanding in fields such as tourism, distribution and services. However, rising labor costs, the problem of securing land, and the high rate of employee turnover have become issues.
