Urban Concept

The plan is divided into 3 stages: 2020 (Short-term), 2035 (Long-term), and 2050 (prospect). The outline is as follows.
2020: The basic framework of an internationally influential innovation center and its status as an international economic, financial, trade, and transport center are almost completed.
2035: Key urban development indicators reach the level of developed countries.
2050: Various development indicators reach the level of developed countries.



Facilities

In conjunction with the conclusion of the agreement, Tencent also held a ceremony to unveil the Regional Headquarters (East China) to be established in Shanghai's Xuhui District. Going forward, in partnership with the City of Shanghai, the company plans to focus on smart retailing, the construction of AI innovation model areas, the development of the Internet medium, and the creation of new services and business models utilizing platforms such as "WeChat".



History

On January 5, 2018, the City of Shanghai announced the "The city of Shanghai as a whole (2017 – 2035 years)" (Hereinafter, the plan), approved by the State Council (cabinet). Shanghai has been positioned as a core city in the Yangtze Delta region, with the addition of "innovation center" as the 5th center, in addition to the existing 4 centers (International economy, finance, trade and transportation). The Shanghai municipal government concluded strategic collaboration agreements with smartphone giant Xiaomi (Shaomi) on August 7, 2018, with Alibaba Group and its subsidiary Ant Financial on August 16, and with Internet service giant Tencent on August 20.

 
 
 

Relations with Japanese Companies

Japanese food culture is easily accepted by the people of Shanghai, and Japanese companies based on food have a competitive advantage. A number of Japanese companies are already operating in China, but there are still various risks, such as the possibility of adverse movements arising from Japan-China relations.
