Urban Concept
At the Smart City Challenge, which was launched by the United States Department of Transportation (U.S. Department of Transportation, USDOT) in 12 2015, applicants were invited to conduct field trials of new transportation systems using information technology, mainly in medium-sized cities. The city of Columbus was selected as the winner and is being considered with the USCOD. In the city of Columbus, the death rate of infants within 1 year of birth is 150 per year, of which the African mortality rate is estimated to be 2 times higher than that of whites, especially in low-income areas. To solve this problem, the city of Columbus has received $50 million in private funding from USDOT and Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen. From 2019 to 2020, a project is scheduled to be started in which residents actually participate.
