Dianthus
It grow in the sunny grassy plain and riverbank, in the slope of a roadside and the mountainous district, the sandy beach of the shore.
In Japan, it is distributed over Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu widely, and
a few grows wild at Okinawa Islands. It is distributed over Korea, China,
Taiwan out of Japan.
It is perennial plant, the height is 30-50cm. The stem grows from a root, and a knob swells
out. The leaf is a linear lancet arch, and length is 4-7cm.
It is from June to September in flowering season. The dianthus likes
the place that opened out including the grassy plain, but there is the
area decreasing under the influence of development ofland and the collection
of the garden variety, feeding damage of animals, the naturalized species.
