Ozone layer depletion

Ozone is in the range of altitude 15 km to 30 km, and when you bring the ozone layer to the ground, it becomes a thin layer of about 3 mm.

The formation and effect of the ozone layer

When the earth was born in the first place, ozone did not exist on the earth. However, when life was born in the sea, the concentration of oxygen increased, and oxygen reached the stratosphere, ozone became to be generated by ultraviolet rays.
Also, due to the ozone layer, we are protected from ultraviolet rays.

What happens with ultraviolet rays

Ultraviolet rays cause skin cancer and cataracts.
Destruction of the ozone layer makes it easier for the disease to say so.

Furthermore, it is also predicted that plant growth defects occur, and food crisis may occur.

Reason for ozone depletion

So why the ozone layer has been destroyed?
The main cause is called "Freon". Freon was once used as a "dream chemical" and has been used for refrigerants such as refrigerators and air conditioners, propellants for spraying.
However, it is known that the chlorofluorocarbon is a kind of greenhouse gas and it destroys the ozone layer, and now it is subject to substantial regulation, especially in developed countries.
In Japan, "Law Concerning the Control of Freon Emissions" is stipulated, and collection of products using CFCs is being promoted as a country.

POINT AND OPINION

POINT

  • Ozone layer was destroyed mainly by Freon.
  • The ozone layer protects us from ultraviolet rays.
  • The ozone layer protects us from ultraviolet rays.

OUR OPINION

In order to prevent destruction of the ozone layer, we can greatly agree to collect old refrigerant. Both industrialized countries and emerging economies thought that if we could completely eliminate old refrigerants, it would be a big step for environmental problems improvement. Also in emerging countries, I think that it would be nice if I could make laws.
