Mindmap Tutorial

Making a mindmap is very simple. All you need is a pen and a sheet of paper.
On this page, we will show you step by step how to make a mindmap.

■Step 1 - Write the main subject

First, write the main subject of your mindmap in the center of the paper. Be sure to have a plenty of free space around the main subject.

step1

■Step 2 - Draw bubbles

Next, draw bubbles around the main subject in the order that comes up to your mind.

step2

■Step 3 - Connect related bubbles

Connect related bubbles and voila! You already have the basic structure of a mindmap.
Adding color to the bubbles will help you better understand which bubbles are closely related.

step3

■Step 4 - Expand the map

Repeat steps 2 and 3 to put more thoughts into the main topic. This is basically all you have to do to make a mindmap. Since related bubbles remain connected with lines, there is no need to worry about getting lost in your mindmap no matter how many bubbles you add onto it later on.

step4

■Step 5 - Add side notes

The main purpose of making a mindmap is to visually organize and simplify complex information, so it is not recommended that you make too many connections between bubbles. In mindmaps, it is important to connect bubbles logically. In this respect, mindmaps are fundamentally different from just connecting data.

step5

Just follow these three steps and you will be amazed at how much a mindmap can help you with organizing your thoughts.
