Industrial design started in 1900s.
It is the work to make goods more user-friendly and make them look more beautifully.
Raymond Loewy is the representative designer who started industrial design.
People started to recognize the design is so important to sell goods.
And then it came to Japan.
In Japan, in 1951 JT, it was called “Senbai-kosha” at that time, asked Raymond Loewy to design the tobacco case of “Peace”. It was designed so cool and made it look like American tobacco.
People really liked it and it was sold a lot.
Since then, we have used industrial designers to sell goods.
