What are included in peanuts
Peanuts (called “Nankinmame” in Japanese), peanut oil, peanut butter, etc. Both small grain species (for oil) and large grain variety (edible) are also subject to display.Peanuts are legumesbutalmonds, walnuts, cashew nuts, chestnuts etc. are nuts,so they are not eligible for display.
Strong antigenicity
People with allergy suffer from allergic reaction even with a small amount. Therefore, it is necessary to abate peanuts from every food completely.
For infants
In the USA, it is published in a guideline “We should not let infants to eat peanuts”. But recently it was formally announced that “In order to reduce risk of peanut allergy, it is recommended to introduce food containing peanuts for age of 4 to 6 months."
Japan Airlines’ activities
Since 2014 in Japan Airlines, they have been avoiding peanuts and peanuts oil from in-flight meal and lounge menu. Moreover, they clean around the seat if we apply in advance.
