3-1.The world's refugees |
There are 15millions refugees in
many parts of the world.
I thought that there must be a reason in each instance. so I researched
the background. |
|
| The main causes of refugees
are..... |
| 1.
Persecution by another nation
or religious group |
| 2. Persecution
by politics |
| 3. Environmental
disasters such as floods, droughts, earthquakes |
| 4. Persecution
by development or expansion of an economy |

Yes, there are various reasons
why people have been forced to become refugees. But there's one
thing we can clearly see. The victims are always the weak in a
paticular era, religious, political or economic situation.
And lately, the numbers of refugees seems to be increasing. Over
the past 30 years, an average of 700 people per day were forced
to leave their hometowns. Adding the number of people escaping
inside their country to the number of refugees, the total numbers
must increase. Especially, in developing countries, where there
are overpopulation, bad economies, the destruction of nature,
and widespread poverty.
In addition, militaristic policies and feelings of xenophobia
are growing.
All of those conditions lend to create a large number of refugees. |
