UNHCR was founded in 1951 and has
the duty to give "International Conservation" to the
refugees who lost the conservation of their own countries, and
to help them with food, medical care and housing, and other
problems.
The most important conservation of
UNCHR is to convince countries accept refugees. This means to
not hurt them when they cross the border, and to not force them
back to their original cuontry.
The methods used by UNCHR to solve
the refugee problem are .....
1.The
return of refugees to their homeland.
2.Allowing refugees to live in the country which first
accepted them.
3.Moving them 3rd countries.
Through UNCHR's experience, they think that option No1.
is the best solution.
But the safety must be guaranteed for refugees who return to
their homeland. This is a difficult thing to do but it was accomplished
in Cambodia or Mozambique.
When the refugees decide to return to their homeland, UNCHR
provides them with a way to return, such as a bus, ship, train
or airplane. UNCHR also sometimes gives them tools to use in
daily life, food or money.
Often, when a coutry accepts refugees, there is some destruction
of the natural environment. That is because when the refugees
come in, they cut trees for cooking fuel and for making houses.
So UNCHR tries to help this situation by giving the refugees
stoves and seedlings for replanting.
