United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)


UNEP was established in 1973 as an inside organization of the United Nations for moving to enforcement the "Declaration on Human Environment" and the "environmental international action plan" which were adopted by the U.N. Conference on Human Environment in 1972.
It is working in cooperation with the U.N. organization, international organizations, local organizations, and each country.



Purpose

- Adjustment-manage synthetically many activities about the environment which many otherU.N. organizations are performing
- Promote the international cooperation in the environmental problem which other the U.N. organization is not tackling
- The U.N. activity and the international cooperation activities for an environmental field

Activity

- The monitoring and the official announcement of a result of earth environment
- Creation preparation of an environmental relation treaty
- Information gathering, distribution, etc. concerning proper technology an environment top

In the following field, it is mainly working.
- Ozonosphere protection
- Climate change
- Waste
- Marine environment protection (marine organism resources protection is included)
- Water quality preservation
- Degradation prevention of soil (desertification prevention is included)
- Forest problems, such as tropical forest preservation
- Protection of biodiversity
- Harmony of industrial activity and environment
- Energy saving, saving resources
