23 May 2018 Form the Team
5 people who are interested in water problem gathered and started to research the theme “How to ease uneven distribution of water.”
13 June Extension Class
We made a presentation about the current course of our research activities, and we received advices from professors at Ochanomizu University.
13 August Visiting Professor Oki’s Office
We visited Prof. Oki’s office. Prof. Oki is a professor of the University of Tokyo and a Senior Vice-Rector of the United Nations University. We realized that large quantity of virtual water imports is not necessarily a bad thing, not paying compensation for the trade is then problem. We revised our thought.
Summer holidays Draw a Poster
We drew a poster for the high school student poster session of the Academic Meeting of the AJG (Association of Japanese Geographers) Autumn 2018. Our team director created an innovative idea which is overlay multiple maps.
Besides, we designed original menu and examined how the quantity of virtual water vary.
From 18 to 25 August Asia Youth Leaders 2018
Our team director participated in “Asia Youth Leaders 2018” sponsored by AEON 1% Club Foundation. About 70 high school students gathered and had discussions and so on.
Moreover, we sent a questionnaire to them and made companions to send our research activities.
31 August Visit Ochanomizu University Elementary School
We visited Ochanomizu University Elementary School and got information about foodstuffs and menu of school lunch from a nutritionist. We learned the importance of diet and consideration again.
7 September Study in Italy
One of our members went to study in Italy. We examined the awareness of virtual water in foreign country.
23 September The High School Student Poster Session of the Academic Meeting of the AJG (Association of Japanese Geographers) Autumn 2018
We had the poster session at Wakayama University and won the Chairman’s Award. We received valuable advices and spent quality time.
October Make the Website
We made maps using MANDARA10 and started to write about our studies.
20 December Visit Prof. Miyazawa’s Office
We visited Prof. Miyazawa’s office at Ochanomizu University. We received advice our website. We found new viewpoints such as multiscale and telecoupling.
16 February 21st Web Contest Finalist Presentation and Awards Ceremony
Through examination, we were elected as one of the finalists.We made presentation and won the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry's Award, Platinum Award and Audience Award.
We communicated with other groups and found different angles.
