Home > Summary > SDGs and loss 12

If we continue to live in this way, global warming will continue and our lives will be affected.
Thus, we found out that clothing loss has a huge impact on the environment.
In this section, we will look at the relationship between clothing loss and the SDGs.
Let's learn about the SDGs, which we hear so much about today, and deepen our understanding of clothing loss!

What is the SDGs?
First of all, SDGs is an abbreviation for "Sustainable Development Goals," which means Sustainable Development Goals in Japanese.
This is an international goal adopted as a successor to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) formulated in 2001, which aim to achieve a sustainable and better world by 2030.
It consists of 17 goals and 169 targets and pledges to "leave no one behind" on the planet.
The SDGs are universal, not only for developing countries but also for developed countries themselves, and Japan is actively working on them.

12「Responsibility to make and use」
Next, let's look at some of the SDGs that we can move closer to solving by improving clothing loss.
Of the 17 SDG goals, I will discuss the 12th one, "Responsibility to Create Responsibility to Use.
The main goal of this section is to encourage both producers and consumers to act responsibly in order to protect the environment and human health.

First, let's take a look at the 12th objective, which is related to clothing loss.sssss
The first is: "Implement a 10-year plan for sustainable consumption and production. The first is, "Implement a 10-year plan for sustainable consumption and production,
led by developed countries, with action by all countries, taking into account the development status and responsiveness of developing countries." This is the first one.
Second, "By 2030, we will ensure that the natural dimension is managed sustainably and used efficiently.
Third, "By 2030, we will significantly reduce the amount of waste generated by preventing, reducing, recycling, and reusing it.
Although the recycling rate in Japan is on the rise, it is still low in comparison to the rest of the world.
Old clothes at home or clothes that have become too small to wear should be actively recycled or reused.
Fourth, "By 2030, people everywhere will have information and awareness of sustainable development and how to live in harmony with nature.

Next, we will show you how to achieve these items.
The first is "to help developing countries move toward more sustainable forms of consumption and production.

These are written mostly on a country-by-country basis, and may not be familiar to you.
However, this twelfth item contains many things that can be worked on on an individual basis.
Why don't we all reaffirm the SDGs together and start from what we can do?sssssss
