Do you experience heavy rain disasters in Australia?
In the past year in Australia we have had two major floods from rain, this caused issues with people getting to work and using highways and even trains.
Have you ever experienced any damage due to a torrential rain disaster? What kind of damage did you suffer? (e.g.) Floods, houses being washed away, mudslides, etc.
We experienced the flooding while over in Australia, and the roof was even leaking through the roof and setting off our smoke alarms. Friends in my classes experienced their entire house being flooded and having all their belongings ruined :(
Do you have any countermeasures for such a situation?
I couldn’t find anything on the countermeasures in Australia, but I know they have flood relief funds to help support families.
Have you ever heard that some organisms are damaged by heavy rain disasters? If so, what are the names of the organisms?
The flooding affected lots of animals as some may have drowned and been taken away from their families. This includes baby marsupials (koalas, kangaroos and possums)

Yes, we have experienced a few floods in Brisbane, Australia.

Yes, major flooding. Schools closed. No public transport, train tracks underwater. We were lucky enough not to have major damage in the house, just a leaking roof, causing the power to go out.

Collect sandbags from local councils. Have an evacuation plan in place. Listen to local radio stations, and keep up to date with what’s happening. We also have a generator. We also chose not to live in a flood-prone area.

Koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, birds, possums, a few platypuses, and turtles. We had a problem with ants after the last flooding.
