Image and reality of the Tsushin highschool

As we wrote on the top page, we feel that the current image of correspondence high schools is not bad, and that there is prejudice due to this.

Therefore, we conducted a questionnaire survey of students who are currently attending correspondence high schools, and investigated the image they had before entering a correspondence high school and the actual situation after entering.

There are four main items.

  1. What made you decide to attend a correspondence high school?
  2. What kind of image did you have before attending a correspondence high school?
  3. How do you feel when you actually go there?
  4. Good things and bad things about enrolling

Let's take a look at the survey results.

1.What made you decide to attend a correspondence high school?

As a result of the questionnaire survey, there were three main reasons.
The contents of each category are introduced below.

①Interpersonal relations

  • "I had a relationship problem in high school."
  • "When I transferred schools midway through, I thought that if I entered another full-time high school, I would already have a group of friends and wouldn't fit in, so I transferred to a correspondence high school where I could enroll at any time."

②School refusal due to physical or mental illness

  • " At the full-time high school I used to go to, I was told that I would be repeating a year if I didn't continue."
  • " I couldn't go to junior high school due to illness, so I thought it would be impossible for me to live a full-time lifestyle."
  • "Because I lost confidence in myself and could not go to school"

③A full-time course does not suit my lifestyle

  • "I didn't go to junior high school much, and I thought I couldn't keep up with the full-time course."
  • "Because I couldn't live a normal high school life"
  • "Because my previous school didn't suit me"
  • "It became difficult for me to go to full-time school due to my discipline disorder."

Summary

In the current situation, I had the impression that there were many opinions that "I had no choice but to enroll in the correspondence course."
I would like to make information more open and appeal to people who want to go to a correspondence high school as a course for regular studies.

  • "Image of not studying very much, not being serious, and being isolated from society"
  • "I thought it was a place where immodest people gather, such as drinking and smoking."

Summary

As a good image, more than half of the respondents said that classes could be progressed at their own pace, while more than half of them had a bad image.
As for the content, there were many impressions that there were many people who were worried about academic ability, and many people who had bad behavior and many people who were out of society.

Summary

As for the good thing about enrolling, many people said that they had a lot of free time, so they could do their best at their own pace and try various things.
On the negative side, there was an opinion that since there are not as many school events as in a full-time school, it is not possible to lead a student life like a high school student.

Being able to take on various challenges in your free time is one of the great benefits of enrolling in a correspondence high school, so I hope this becomes more widespread.

Currently, there are few events with hundreds of people, but there are many events with dozens of people, such as school trips.
