１．Observation of Research Institute

We went to Takasaki Advanced Radiation Research Institute, Gunma prefecture. This page introduces some facilities.

Cobalt-60 Irradiation Facility／Electron Beam Irradiation Facility／Ion-Irradiation Research Facility

This facility enables to experiment with γ-ray, using Cobalt-60. Interestingly, Cobalt-60 move in the watercourse to prevent it from emitting radiation.

Cobalt-60 Irradiation Facility

This photo shows Cobalt-60 in water. We don’t have to be worried about leaking radiation because water shelters us from radiation.
This light is caused by what radiation react with water.It is called "Cherenkov radiation"

This facility enables to experiment with electron beam. Actually, we did an experiment.

Electron Beam Irradiation Facility

This is the model of Electron Beam Irradiation Facility.

This very thick door and wall prevent from leaking radiation when we irradiate radiation in the room. During experiencing, of course, there is nobody in the room.

This is the most important room in the facility, irradiation chamber.The conveyer carry things to irradiater.

This facility enables to experiment with ion beam.

There is a cyclotron at the end of this road and besides controlled area. When we left the cyclotron, we were checked if we had radioactive pollution.
