Electrostatic discharge

The phenomenon in which an object which is tinged with electricity, and is suddenly condensed to lose that electricity is called discharge. Also, the phenomenon in which an insulator such as gas is ionized and emits electrons, loses its insulation, and conducts a current is called it ,too. There are corona discharges, spark discharges, arc discharges, cold cathode arc discharges, hot cathode arc discharges, glow discharges, dark electric discharges (Townsend discharges), dielectric barrier discharges, RF (Radio Frepuency) electric discharges, microwave discharges, surface creepage, etc, among all types discharge. The gas molecules ionize by applying a voltage to the opposing electrodes in the air , and a very small current is conducfed. This current is called an undercurrent, and this area is called dark discharge (Townsend discharge). additionally, as the voltage of the electrode rises, the current increases abruptly applying a voltage greater than the certain, and spark is visible. This phenomenon is called the spark discharge. The voltage for this spark discharge is called sparking voltage. Continuous discharge in low-pressure gas is called glow discharge. It is used in neon glow lamps and neon sign and so on because it emits various colors depending on the kind of gas sealed into a discharge tube. When a discharge current is increased beyond a glow discharge it is called an arc discharge. Compared with glow discharge, it maintains a lower voltage and higher temperature of gas molecules and the current is larger un this final form of discharge.

 Discharge phenomenon familiar
Probably, as a familiar electric discharge phenomenon, it is static electricity. Static electricity often happens during the dry winter months. Static electricity is caused by friction of two kinds insulators. Ground and foot friction, the body and clothing friction etc, they are major causes. Ignition and explosion in a self-service gas station by static electricity are dangerous. Since the preventive measures are put up these days. Don't miss it. Lightning is a natural phenomenon due to static electricity.
・As a measure
Please dissipate static electricity. The other, increasing the humidity of the room because Static electricity is unlikely to occur with high humidity. As a matter of sense, I think touching by the palm is less impact than touching by the tip of one's finger.
