Constitution and Labor – Article 27 of the Constitution

Article 27 of the Japanese Constitution provides for the rights and obligations to work.

Right to work

It refers to the right of people to demand the government for relief measures such as guaranteeing employment and work, and the employment insurance system when one cannot find a job.

Obligation to work

Also, according to the Constitution of Japan, labor is one of the three major duties of citizens along with education and tax payment.

To protect the workers

In order to protect workers and guarantee their lives as human beings the Labor Standards Act stipulates standards concerning these conditions of employment. Companies cannot determine working conditions below this standard.

Prohibition of abuse of children

The definition of a child here means a young person, and there are no strict rules. The Labor Standards Act in principle prohibits people under 15 years old from being employed and made to work.
