Examples of actual efforts②

One of parent from our team members were interviewed about the work environment. It would be appreciated if you could keep in mind that it is only one example among various professions.

Occupation: Telecommunications

Years of service: 20 years

Paid leave: 20 days per year (Can be stocked up to 40 days if not used (1 year worth))

Special form of work

・Shift work (Management of machinery and network facilities)
・Contract employees: People over 60 years old become contract employees and may be paid by the hour.
・Sometimes workers are dispatched by temp agencies
・Telecommuting
・Satellite office
*In the case of telecommuting and satellite offices, there is a restriction that employees must come to the office for a fixed period of time.
・Flextime: If you are in the office at 10:00 ~ 14:30, you can shift the start and finish times.

Distinctive vacation leave

・Life plan vacation (Paid): 3 days a year ... You can save up to 20 if you do not use it
・Summer holidays and New Year holidays are set aside.
・Unavoidable holidays such as mourning are also set aside.

Is it easy to take a leave?

I think it's easy to get it. The company has a strong labor union, so if they do not take it, their managers will be scolded, so there is a strong tendency for them to take leaves.

New forms of labor to be introduced

Since many forms of work have already been introduced, nothing in particular.
Work management is based on "the state of being at office", so I do not think it can be introduced unless this is changed.

Are you satisfied with your current working style?

As a large company, it is difficult to build a system that can be used by all because there are various occupations.
I'm not satisfied, but I can accept it.
The system described above is actually unusable for a small number of managers because they have too much work to do.
I do not think the current structure of Japanese companies will be able to save such minorities because the companies themselves are not trying to improve the fundamental aspects.

Barrier-Free Effects

While most of the office buildings are old and they do not seem to be concerned with barreier free, the new office buildings seem to be built from a barrier-free point of view. If you become in a wheelchair due to a sudden injury, you will be transferred to a department where you can work even in that condition.

Unpaid overtime

Does not exist. The more overtime you work, the more money you get. However, when you become a senior manager, your salary is based on an annual salary system, and your annual salary includes the expected amount of overtime work, so the more you stay in the company, the closer to the situation where you do not get paid for any overtime work.

Have you realized the effects of reform of working styles?

I do not really feel it. However, it is true that this reform was unthinkable in the past, and I am looking forward to changes in the future. However, in order to achieve the same level as foreign companies, it is necessary to abandon the system that is already being completed, and I think it is unreasonable.

Health maintenance and mental health initiatives

・All employees are basically able to receive a complete medical check up every year. It is well organized in that aspect. A few years ago, employees aged 60 or older became eligible to the annual check up. The company itself has a hospital and that gives us a sense of security.
・On the other hand, there is not enough care in terms of exercise.
・There is a mental health check once a year. According to a five-point survey, those who get a certain score are mentally trapped.
The industrial physician system: There is a psychiatrist who is almost always stationed.
Human Rights Awareness Office: Harassment can be reported by phone and investigated immediately.
