What I understood was that the fire extinguisher is very heavy and extinguishing a fire with it is very difficult. Although an instructor explained, as I’m not good at keeping short-term memory, I forgot the big part of how to use it, and I was panicked. There is a fire in the screen; I was in a hurry more and more. Besides, as I said, fire extinguisher was too heavy… I couldn’t train the hose without straightening up, so I straightened as many posture as possible in as fast as I could. After, I and another staffs could finish extinguishing without any trouble. If it had been reality, what would happen to me…? This experience became not only hands-on learning but also a start of my thinking about protection against disasters. |

I was surprised at that the fire extinguisher is heavier than I’ve thought. But I took the hands-on learning of earthquake for the first time. Moreover, this time its contents is not genuine one but water (maybe it’s lighter than real one), so maybe it will become all little children do easily. In addition, it’s also hard to keep on grasping the lever of the fire extinguisher until the fire went out. According what instructor explained, it’s hard for little children and women to begin grasping the lever at the beginning of extinguishing. When I had this hands-on learning, I was panicked and confused.In other word, I could understand what panic and confuse is.From this experience, I realized how important having hands-on learning is. |
