Let's examine photosynthesis

What we will learn

  • This is an experiment of photosynthesis.
  • How much carbon dioxide do plants absorb?

experiment

Preparations

・a bag to put plants in(polyethylene)
・gas detecting tube model2EL
             (Carbon dioxide)
・a straw
・a rubber band
 ・plants
Procedure of the experiment
First, put the plants into the bag of polyethylene.
Bind the bag with a rubber band.
Insert a straw into the bag, and blow. (Carbon dioxide levels will become too high if you blow too much air in. A few blows may be sufficient. )
A gas detecting tube shows the level of carbon dioxide in the bag.
We put it in a place where sunlight hits it well so that photosynthesis will go on for about 1 hour.
This is the bag after sitting for 1 hour.
Once again, insert the gas detecting tube in the bag to show the carbon dioxide levels.
Results
The Carbon dioxide level before photosynthesis was about 2.5%.

The Carbon dioxide level after photosynthesis decreased about 0.03%.
Conclusion
By putting plants in a place where sunlight hits it, carbon dioxide could be absorbed by photosynthesis.
