Features of the Guppy's Body
You can distinguish a male from a female when a guppy is more than three weeks old. Males are characterized by having a buttocks fin, females are characterized by having a lower belly. The buttocks fin grows behind its sex organ, gonopojiumu, and becomes sharp. If that characteristic appears, he is male. If black spots appear on the lower belly, under the air bladder, it is a female.
