GIAHS in Japan
The United Nations decided the year from 2011 to 2020 will be the decade biodiversity, in which the governments and other organization will deal with biodiversity. Then Japan applied Sado and Noto to GIAHS.
Now (November,2015), Japan has 5 sites of GIAHS, Sado, Noto (authorized in June,2011),Shizuoka, Aso, and Kunisaki (authorized in May,2013).
the Nagara-river, MinabeTanabe, and Takachihogo Shiibayama were waiting for registration.
※Addition On 2015/12/15, thoes three areas were authorized.
