Chiba prefecture, located in Kanto Region, holds Narita International Airport, functioning as a gateway to Japan. Therefore, Tokyo is visited by many overseas tourists as it only takes about an hour from Narita. The access to sightseeing places such as Tokyo Skytree, Sensouji temple in Asakusa, and the national sports hall, Kokugikann, may be quite easy for them. Not only Tokyo but also Yokohama in Kanagawa prefecture has historical places such as China Town and Red Brick Warehouse. Various efforts are being made to call in “Inbound” tourists to Japan. For example, by recording a video of a traditional Japanese culture and uploading a on the Internet, they can promote Japan to anywhere in the world. We have conducted a questionnaire survey on how people serve to “Inbound” tourists both in Tokyo and in Yokohama.

A: We make and display brochures and posters written in Japanese, English and Chinese. We also hold a Shopping Street Grand Prix to promote the shopping streets for them to work on superior projects.

Q: What efforts do you currently make towards “Inbound” tourists?
A: The brochures and guide maps are always ready which are translated into English, Korean, Taiwanese and Chinese of both “Traditional Chinese” and “Simplified Chinese”. We use a translating machine in case we have difficulty. We try our best to make multilingual brochures to make overseas visitors comfortable with their own language.
