What we want to say

So far, we have looked at para-sports from multiple perspectives.
As we look back over the past pages, we would like to think together about the future and the society we would like to achieve.

Finally

In the interviews and questionnaires section, we learned that para-sports is a life worth living for the athletes and that it is important for them to transcend their "disabilities" and become an athlete.
However, para-sports is a sport that cannot be played without people who can support and teach. From the interviews with the players and coaches, I learned that there is a lack of instructors and other supporters because of the need for knowledge of disabilities and that there are few facilities where para-sports can be played. I felt that for para-sports to develop further, the surrounding environment needs to be improved.

In the para-sports experience of wheelchair tennis, it was difficult to operate the wheelchair that the players seemed to move so easily, and it required a lot of physical strength and skill. However, when the rallies continued, I felt a sense of accomplishment and had a lot of fun.

In the Blind Experience, we had a chance to experience visual impairment. By experiencing it once, I was able to think about what kind of information visually impaired people would want to know.
A survey of junior and senior high school students shows that awareness of para-sports itself is still low. However, some of them said that watching the Paralympics was cool and amazing, and their view of challenged people is beginning to change.

We hope that this site will help people become more interested in parasports. And, we hope that this site will help to change the way people around us look at parasport, little by little, and lead to a symbiotic society where people can live together with various kinds of people.

What we felt through creation this web site.

Thought the creating this web site, I noticed that I still lacked knowledge. I had a limited understanding of para-sports; I thought "It looks kind of hard, but I guess it's easier than normal sports because the rules are more lenient, aren't it?" I did not know how difficult it is to secure a place to practice, how hard it is to provide support, and how many problems and hurdles there are to overcome. Through the experience of wheelchair tennis, my previous image changed drastically, "Wheelchair tennis is so hard that my muscles hurt all over, not just my arms! " After finishing the creation of the web site, I really learn that there is a great deal of fun and appeal on the para-sports!

I didn't know much about para-sports before TV started featuring it in the TOKYO 2020 Paralympics. Through the creation of this web site, I got opportunities to experience wheelchair tennis and interview parasports players, which were valuable experiences for me. I was surprised to learn that para-sports were not something that only one player does, but that many people are involved in it, which made me more interested in it. In the future, I would like to watch more different kinds of para-sports. Para-sports is not a different world from us and the more I know about parasports, the more interesting it is, so I wanted to convey the fun to my friends around me.

I used to think that para-sports were just a sport for people with disabilities. Thought create this site, I had experience to play wheelchair tennis and I was able to recognize the hardships involved. Through the interview with Mr. Yoshihara, I also learned that while he has his own struggles as a para-athlete, he also has the same struggles as able-bodied athletes, such as balancing work and sports. Based on this, from now on, I would like to do my best to make various people understand the beauty and pain of para-sports.

Before I created this site, I had a preconceived notion and prejudice that people with disabilities would be hard tp play sports. In the process of creating this site, I had many opportunities to experience and learn about para-sports. These experiences make my preconceived notion and prejudice break, and I came to think that para-sports are cool and amazing. At the same time, I wanted to share the beauty of para-sports with as many people as possible. So, first of all, I want to increase my knowledge every day so that I can share the wonderfulness of para-sports.

This time, working with people who didn't know much about para-sports, I re-learned about the depth, drawbacks, and joys of para-sports. I play wheelchair tennis and well know the rule, but I didn't know much about the rules and regulations of other sports, so it was a new discovery for me. I hope to continue to do my best as para-athlete!
