Existing energy development

By summarizing the energy situation in Japan and the world on the previous pages, you can see which power generation is the mainstream and that this power generation is increasing recently.
And on this page, we have delved into each of these power generation methods and carefully selected and summarized the three.
You can see why the power generation that was growing on the previous page has grown so far.

Thermal power generation

Oil / coal and liquefied natural gas (LNG) are burned to heat water, and the high-temperature, high-pressure steam generated at that time turns a turbine (impeller) and a generator to generate electricity (steam power generation). In addition, there are gas turbine power generation that uses gas compressed and heated to high temperature and high pressure instead of steam (water), and combined cycle power generation that combines steam power generation and gas turbine power generation.
Since it is possible to supply stable power and solar power generation and wind power generation have a lot of fluctuations, it can be supplemented as a backup when the amount of power generation is small.
Also, when burning oil or coal, smoke is emitted, but dirt such as soot in the smoke is removed with an electrostatic precipitator to prevent the air from being polluted.

Nuclear power

The principle of a nuclear power plant is the same as the principle of thermal power generation. The boiler of a thermal power plant is a nuclear reactor, and uranium fuel undergoes fission to generate heat. This heat turns water into steam, which turns a turbine to produce electricity. A small amount of fuel produces a large amount of energy, and once refueled, it can continue to operate for at least a year.
It is attractive because it does not emit CO2 or air pollutants during power generation, but there are increasing calls that it should be banned due to processing problems such as spent fuel and damage in the event of an accident.

Human power generation

As the name implies, human power generation is a mechanism that generates electricity by human power, and it generates electricity by rotating the generator with a part of the body such as limbs. Familiar items include hand-cranked mobile chargers, radios, and bicycle lights.
Since it requires few items, it can be used even in the event of a disaster, and because it does not use fuel, it is environmentally friendly and exhibits excellent performance. You can maintain your health and eating habits while generating electricity.
However, it is said that it is difficult to generate enough electricity to cover the electricity used in daily life because power generation requires physical strength and the amount of electricity generated is small even if you do your best.

summary

This page summarizes three power generation methods.
However, there are still many ways to generate electricity. Do you know "renewable energy"?
As explained in detail on the next page, it means reusable energy.
