English has been the language on line since the invention of Internet. It is said that more than 90% of the information on line, including words, codes, tags and so on, is written in English. Chinese are increasing their propotion. Japanese, compared to these languages, pages are certainly increasing their propotions, but the rate is much smaller than that of other languages. One of the reason is that Japanese is difficult to learn. For example, there was a plan to make the number of the foreign students into 100,000 till 2000 has been checked. As the Japanese population is much smaller than Chinese population, we should think about how to expand the usage of Japanese in abroad. In this net society, we should think at first that we need to double the usage of Japanese on line in order to make Japanese survive. For these reasons, we introduce the best Japanese language teaching materials to you.

It's Reading Tutor. The Reading Tutor was designed to help students of the Japanese language improve their reading skills in Japanese. As this system was developed specifically to help learners study written Japanese at their own pace, it is the best self-learning material.

What makes it the best materials? It's the form of the material. This system automatically hyperlinks each word in the inputted Japanese sentences with its English translation. By clicking on each unknown word, the learner can instantaneously access the pronunciation and the translation of the word. We no longer should be in trounble look into words in a huge dictionary.

The system also has a learning process management function. It records every word accessed in the translation (i.e., clicked by the learner) and shows the record to the learner after he/she finishes reading. This function is effective in the acquisition of vocabulary. To do the same thing off line, we should write down all the words, we checked, which takes us a lot more time.

For intermediate learners, for whom good learning materials on the Internet are scarce, a reading materials bank has also been prepared using this system, and already contains over 350 texts. This bank is also available to learners through the Internet. Everyone now can access and develop Japanese reading ability easily. By all these merits, we can learn with less time and labor.

We propose that there should be a Reading Tutor support net work. That means, some Japanses language teacher or University students who can use both Japanese and English helps learners learn Japanese. Learners send e-mails to the net work and communicate.

What will the students do then? First of all, they study by Reading Tutor. Read the texts, check the vocabulary, and practice more. Then, write easy sentences in Japanses. They might be wrong, but it's not much of problem. The net work will correct the sentence, and send it to the Reading Tutor. The process can not only reduce the owner's labor, but also become help for Japanese language teachers and students who want to be Japanese teachers. I mean, teachers can understand where do foreing people make mistakes. There will be more than a thousand texts on line, which may take the owner much more time and labor but for the support system. As this net work is good for teachers and learners, it can make the net work bigger and bigger. Mutual nature of the net work should be made use of. Finally, it can change the language of the net work.
