Mertensian mimicry

Generally , it is believe that there is no creature that have as strong poison as kill predators in dangerous species which become models in Batesian mimicry and Mullerian mimicry. It is because if predators died, the creatures which know the danger of prey would disappear , and warning colors and mimicking the model species would not make sense. It is kinds of mimicry called Mertensian mimicry that the creatures that have a strong poison and weapon mimic the efficient way of the model species. Then, this mimicry resembles Mullerian mimicry so much , so Mullerian mimicry often includes this mimicry.

Example

One of the typical examples is the snake which belongs to the sea snake families. Firstly , Micrurus , which has a strong poison , mimic the sea snake which has a weaker poison. Then , when predators eat snakes with a weak poison , they learn that those snakes have poison and Micrurus come not to be eaten.

Acoustic mimicry

In the mimicry except the sense of sight , we call the mimicry making use of the sense of smell of opponents and using prey’s own elements of smell Chemical mimicry , while we call the mimicry making use of the sense of hearing Acoustic mimicry. Different from Cryptic mimicry and Chemical mimicry , which is included in genes , it is the only mimicry that creature can learn and utilize in the process of lives.

Example

Gracula religiosa as a pet hears the daily voice of machines and human conversation and sometimes mimics those voice by chirping. Although it is said that animals seldom mimic acoustically , some cases were confirmed where it mimic the warning voice of monkeys in the rainforest.
