What is mimic depression?

Mimic depression is a feigned illness that the people claim they are depressives themselves to make a benefit of illness by pretending symptoms intentionally. It is also called without distinguishing it from atypical depression. The patients who become depression tend to be “serious , responsible , and perfectionism”. Therefore , they try to hide the fact that they are depression because they don’t want to get anxious and worry their family and colleagues about themselves. On the other hand , the patients who become mimic depression tend to be “very egocentric and less responsible”. Therefore , they try to receive profits by depression , and they claim that they are depressives. This is one example that the difference between mimic depression and real depression appears remarkably.

The relationship with mimicry

People who become mimic depression behave as if they were depression by pretending the real depressive condition like “lacking their drive and being in very low spirits”. However , we can see preciously the difference in those two because they try to mimic the illness intentionally. We can say that it is a kind of Batesian mimicry in that they cannot be the model completely.
