Specimens

Summary

specimen    Under the old school system in Japan, biology was taught using real stuffed specimens, and the subject was called natural history.
A lot of the specimens were burnt during the war or abandoned when school buildings were reconstructed. Many schools didn't realize the value of these specimens and threw them away; but our school kept and preserved the specimens, which was a great blessing.
