Current Status of Entomophagy
Worldwide, many countries are said to eat insects.
Today, the world's total population of 7.5 billion people
More than one-fourth feeds on about 1,900 species of insects.

Looking at the number of edible insects in each region, 276 species have been reported in the United States, 264 in Asia, 182 in Australia, and 83 in Africa. Edible insect species in the tropics are also abundant, but the actual number of species is believed to be even higher, as many species are believed to be unknown.
In terms of consumption, in Thailand, 10 tons of locusts are consumed annually, or nearly 30 kg daily. In Oaxaca, Mexico, more than 10 tons of grasshoppers are consumed annually. These are mainly collected outdoors.

We would like to introduce Switzerland and Thailand, which have slightly different characteristics from the rest of the world.

Types of Entomophagy
Entomophagy is not limited to eating insects as they are. Products that are ingeniously designed to make insect foods, which can be a source of protein, edible even for those who dislike insects are gradually increasing in number.
From vibrant insect foods made by frying, boiling, or frying insects as they are, there are also products that mix insects (especially crickets) in a powdered form. This makes them less gross since the insects aren't in their original form!
Thus, entomophagy is evolving every day to make it easier for different people to eat.

How widespread is entomophagy around the world?
