Let's take a closer look at DNA replication. DNA is a semi-conservative replication, but this replication is different from strands replicate.
If you look at the diagram above, you will see that some strands of DNA are formed continuously and some strands are formed discontinuously. This is because DNA polymerase, which is used to replicate DNA, can only arrange nucleotides in the direction from the 5' end to the 3' end of the formed DNA.
