Welcome to the small windmill production diary!

Hot thought of nature energy research group let us participate in a web contest and make a site. Last year, we submitted a thesis about the fuel cell to an alumnus alumnus when we belonged to the chemistry club. But the alumnus did not accept the article , so we were discouraged. This is what began it all. ( we left the chemical club and became free-lance researchers.

We wanted to learn about all natural energy that connects both fields, not learning according to physics and chemistry separately. Therefore we looked for various ways to do so. We discovered a description about the wind energy competition held by the Nippon University at the end of a volume of the book called "the small windmill production book" which we read by chance. As a result, we went for a visit to the university and talked with a professor. We confirmed that even junior high school students may participate in the competition.

We are still learming at Tokyo University of Science, Chiba University,Tsukuba University and Tsukuba expo center. We have many questions one after another when we undertake an experiment in a group of only three members. We didn't have the teacher who relied close.(The field of Windmill engineering, movie, HTML )

In such a case, we had various outside teachers tell us and came through "continuation of the failure". The person cooperating by all means appears if about to appeal with passion from outside. We look for a methood to be settled by all means without keeping it in fact when there is a question. We learned the importance of challenging questions without giving up.



How do you do the research task and the research project? I think that there are many tr junior high students who are troubled by this question. We were troubled, too. We thought, "we helped such junior high students " and intended to show the production process of the small windmill. Even we, common junior high students can do it…. we think that dreams surely come trues if you continue pursuing it with passion.


This site puts the experiment method of the production of the windmill and wind tunnel, result and considerations on display. We submitted these contents to an article contest. 朝永振一郎記念第9回「科学の芽賞」

In addition, we have placed various media in Koishikawa secondary education school. We think that you can have a glimpse of pleasant junior high school life. It is constituted of an image and photograph which we took it in the making of this site. and we submitted a movie contest. 第13回全国こども科学映像祭

Make the wind power generation by oneself (easy point explanation)


Disassemble a hub dynamo and make a hole

 First, let’s get a hub dynamo of a bicycle. If you search the internet, you can be had for a matter of \2000. This is DH-2N30-J from Shimano. A rated voltage is 6V, and a rated output is 2.4W. Wipe up excessive oil in a bearing inside. And put sewing-machine oil into it. Enlarge spoke’s holes (18 holes) by drill.
 


 From AC to DC
 
Electricity which is made by a dynamo of a bicycle is the same AC as a socket of a home. Rectify from AC to DC, and be of used it in cellphone charging. The upper side of the picture is a full-wave rectification circuit. The right of the picture is a charging circuit of a cellphone. I bought these parts at a parts shop in Akihabara. A total is less than \1000. Although I’m a beginner, I can solder. So, you can solder if you are a junior high school student.




 Make a Blade         
 PP boards which are about 1mm are sold in 100-yen shop. Now, let’s make a blade (About 35cm long, about 15cm wide). Because a PP board is very soft, it is cut easily by cutter. The point is how 6 blades are cut the same weight and shape. If you feel it is hard, you should heat by hot water or boil. If you set up the blades that were completed on the hub-dynamo, charges largely. Try various angles. When I set up, I used a cylinder of metal 「Spacer」. 5mm hole, 2cm long and one park containing four costs \150. A metal board like “L” will serve as it.

 

 Lay the foundation 
 The foundation of the left picture is made by joining pipes for furniture together. You can gather these \2000 easily. It rides out a wind of 5 meters per second, but if a wind is more than 5 meters per second, it shakes, I recommend to set up an angle bar like "L" will serve as it.
