About Blood

To know about blood donation, you need to learn about blood. In this page, we will explain about what kind of explain about components of blood and how each of them works.

Blood components

Blood contains plasma (liquid component) and blood cells (formed components).

There are three types of blood cells: red blood cells, platelets, and white blood cells.

blood

Plasma and blood cells play an important role in maintaining human life.

Blood work

Blood plays an important role in carrying oxygen and hormones, which are necessary elements for the human body.

Plasma

While doing the prosess called "tissue respiration", cells produce carbon dioxide. The gas which was produced would transpoted to the lungs by plasma and discharge from the body.

In addition, it carries nutrients to each tissue in the body. And it excretes metabolic waste products, which generated in cells, from the kidneys, and helps to maintain blood pressure.

Red blood cells

Red blood cells contain hemoglobin, which enables red blood cells to carry oxygen from your lungs to all parts of your body.

Platelets

It has the effect of creating a blood clot at the damaged part of the blood vessel and stopping bleeding. Platelets help your body form clots to stop bleeding.

White blood cells

White blood cells, also called leukocyte or white corpuscle, consists of granulocytes, monocytes and lymphocytes.

Granulocytes are produced in the bone marrow. When bacteria and other foreign substances came in side our body, granulocytes capture those invaders by the reaction called "phagocytosis".

It is related to "immunity" = (biological defense mechanism such as digestion, sterilization, and dissolution).

Also, it is said that granulocytes have relation with neutralizeing a toxin and an allergic reaction.

Moreover monocytes which were produced in the bone marrow are transformed into macrophages. Macrohages are thought that they deal with waste products and foreign substances with vigorous phagocytosis.

Lymphocytes, which were produced in lymphatic tissue, are involved in immunity and antibody production.

About blood

Blood is composed of crystals of fluid compoment and formed compoments called red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. Each of them has an important role.
