Our Blood Donation Experience

A member who turned 16 this year, we experienced blood donation at the nearest blood donation room in the school district.

We were a little nervous about our first blood donation.

The blood donation room we headed to is on the 5th floor of the building near the station.

At the entrance, there was a signboard with information such as information and missing blood types.

When we entered, there was a soft space like a wood-style cafe. We expected a hospital lab-like atmosphere, so we were able to relax a bit.

Due to the influence of COVLD-19, there was disinfection and a board at the reception, and the character Kenketsu-chan was also wearing a mask.

The receptionist explained to us for the first time about blood donation in a gentle and polite manner.

• Reception

  The blood donation we can make is 200 ml of whole blood donation.

  If you are light, you may not be able to donate 200 ml of blood, so measure it in the blood donation room.

• Blood pressure measurement and interview

  After answering, we measured our blood pressure and received a light interview from our doctor.

• Pre-inspection

  We examined the amount, specific gravity, and blood type of hemoglobin.

  If the specific gravity of blood is insufficient here, blood cannot be donated.

  Blood for the test was taken from the arm opposite the donor.



• Blood donation

  Reclining chairs for blood collection were placed at intervals in a large space.

  It was comfortable like a bed.

  When We sat down, blood collection started.

  At the tip of a slightly larger injection needle, the blood collection machine connected to the tube was moving.

  There was a TV monitor in front of me so that each person could watch their favorite programs.

  We can't use our blood-collecting arms, but it didn't seem to matter what we were reading, touching our smartphones, or basically doing anything.

  We were able to relax and donate blood because they asked us "Are you okay?" And "Are you feeling sick?"

  Since it is 200 ml, the time was about 15 minutes.



• Break

  After that, we took a break to recover our blood pressure.

  We were resting in the break room for a while.

  At that time, we had free drinks, chose what we liked, and had some sweets.

During the break, the person in charge came and told me the newly made blood donation card and the next guide.

The staff of the blood donation room also brought a lot of souvenirs saying, "Thank you for your cooperation."

In this way, our blood donation experience was successfully completed.
