Shrine de Blood Donation

A new form of effort

We learned that there is a program that encorages you to donate blood at a shrine. We found that because the program Twitter account have followed us. It seems that a blood donation car is parked on the premises of the cooperating shrine and a blood donation booth is set up for only a day.

The event is sponsored as part of the "Temple and Shrine Utilization Culture Improvement Support Project" of the General Foundation for International Disaster Countermeasure. Currently, it is being implemented in Tokyo and Hyogo prefecture. The concept is
"We heard that the number of places where blood can be donated has decreased due to the effects of the new coronavirus infection, which has a serious impact on the blood supply to medical institutions and the General Foundation for International Disaster Countermeasure. Therfore, to support for blood donation projects at the Japanese Red Cross Blood Center in collaboration in shrines. Benefits of donating blood at a shrine

  • Although the population in the front of the station is qwite large, most people have the purpose of going somewhere. Therfore, it is uncertain that they will do the blood donation just because they see a blood donation car. The best place to take root in the local area.

  • Since shrines are often thought as the symbol of the area, the location is easy to identify from the name.

  • Since it is outdoors such as in a parking lot, it is easy to take distence against infection with COVLD-19.

  • They have close relationships with local residents (festivals, etc.) and are familiar with them.

  • There are many residential areas, so you can stop by while taking a walk.

  • It is easier to visit with avoiding crowds because it is in front of the station,.

Going to a shrine makes you feel sacred. We felt that it was the best place to contribute to "connecting lives". Currently, it is hold only in a limited area, but We hope that this project will be carried out all over Japan.
