History of Taro
 It is said that the place of origin of taro was India and Indochina
tropical Asia. It reached Japan earlier than rice growing cultivation in
Jomon period. But some people said it was in the Nara era.
 Taro was made not in a mountain but in a village, so it was called
"satoimo (village potato)". Speaking of a potato, it was taro till a potato
and a sweet potato came. Satoimo is used in cooking such events as
New Years holidays as a symbol of descendant prosperity.





History of carrot
 The place of origin of a carrot is Afghanistan. It is said to have reached
Japan via China in the Azuchimomoyama era. A carrot came and spread out nationwide soon, and it came to be eaten to farmers.
 As for the kind, it is divided into Orient system and West system,
a long root class and a short root class.
 A carrot Japanese people eat now is the new kind which entered from
Europe in the Meiji era.
 White, yellow, or brown carrots were common till then about the
front for approximately 300 years that a carrot became orange.
