This event was held at Funabashi City Gender Equality Center.
We went to the event of "Your town and LGBTs ~" with three members, and Let's know about it!

What does Ally mean?

Ally、Meaning of understanders ・supporters・associates.
A person who tries to eliminate discrimination and prejudice against people of LGBT.
In "Queer & Ally" organizing this event, people who become Ally side will also change depending on the situation, so we say " everyone is" Ally ".

What is LGBTs?

There are many sexual minorities in the world besides LGBT.
(Example: Pan sexual ・ X gender ・ Asexual etc.)
In "Queer & Ally", "LGBT" is attached with plural "s" to represent sexual minorities other than LGBT, and it is taken as "LGBTs".

Coming out

For example ...
In the darkness where the bottom can not be seen, let go of the state holding on to the rope hanging from above, feeling jumping off
When someone did coming out to you, it is important to say to them like "Thank you for talking".
You only have to bother with them by themselves, not trying to manage or deciding.

Are they not around?

・Because there is a vicious cycle where it is difficult to coming out due to wrong prejudice against LGBTs.
・Because of the difference with the surroundings, so LGBT people feel that they are not usual and they arenot easy to live.

Participant's opinions

I think it is important to be able to speak to a close friend about your sex.
I think that I can understand if I have a closer relationship, and I think that there is no difference from ordinary human relations.

By expressing that I am a supporter of LGBTs, I think it would be nice if we could eliminate any lack of surrounding LGBTs' lives.

I think we should teach about diversity from the time of your child.
How can we prevent the students of LGBTs from becoming anxious when entering the society ...?

Talk with the parties

Although I talked with the parties for the first time, after all I thought that it was LGBTs in appearance and I could not judge people.
One participant said "Because the way of thinking is different from mind, I want you to judge after confronting yourself" and we knew that we had suffered LGBTs unconsciously by wrong knowledge of the world it was.
Also, I learned that there are various troubles with not understanding yet that coming out has not been done yet, I thought that it would be better for us to reduce such people by our activities.

Talk with supporters

I was surprised that many of the participants were participating in the event for reasons such as having LGBTs around, coming out and so on.
I knew for the first time that I was suffering not only the parties of LGBT but also supporters.
That is why I felt this problem was very familiar.
Even though I did not notice, there might be some people who are suffering from surroundings, so I want to think together.

What we think

It was a great learning experience to meet people of various ages and sexuality.
I was able to recognize again that people in LGBTs are close to us.
