This is what we can do about energy.
◯Use public transportation such as buses and trains
・Public transportation, such as trains, can carry more people at a time, resulting in lower CO2 emissions per capita than if many people were traveling by private car or other means.
◯Save electricity (do not leave the TV or lights on, be careful to adjust the temperature of the air conditioner).
・As you can see from the chart above, simply raising the temperature of an air conditioner by one degree in summer can reduce CO2 emissions by 1.2 kg. Saving energy frequently, even in small ways, will help prevent global warming in the future.
◯Bring your own bag for shopping
・The plastic bags you buy when you shop emit CO2 when they are burned. So, be sure to bring your own bag when shopping.
◯Use water with care
・Water uses a lot of energy to reach us. We should be careful to conserve water, as leaving showers on and tap water running will increase global warming.
◯Thinking about the future of energy
・By first learning about the current situation and then thinking about energy in the future, we may be able to try to save electricity and water. Please think about the future of energy in order to make the world a place where each and every one of us can take action to prevent global warming!
I'm sure there are plenty of other things we can do to help, so let's be proactive!
This time I researched energy and power generation, and I was able to learn about power generation that I knew the name of but did not know what it was like, as well as power generation for which I did not even know the name.
I had heard the term 'renewable energy' in various places recently and felt like I knew about it, but in reality I only knew the term and didn't really know much about what it was about. I am very happy because it gave me the opportunity to learn more about what it is and what it is not, and now I can talk a little bit more about renewable energy when people ask me about it.
I think it is very important to think about energy and take action to make the world a better place.
We hope that our website will inspire other secondary school students to research and share their thoughts on "energy in the future".
